Welcome to my student profile! My name is Rykiel and I am an elementary school student. I created this website as a place to keep my memorabilia and also to share my interests. On this website, you will find information about me, my academic and cultural background, things I am proud of, and what I hope to do. Thanks for letting me share and hope you enjoy!
About Me
I was born in Canada and I am part Chinese, Malay, and Japanese. My parents are now Canadian but are immigrants from Hong Kong and Brunei.
My friends always hear me reciting all the songs to the popular musical, Hamilton. Lets just get that out of the way. I love musical theatre and I first watched Hamilton on Disney+. The songs were so compelling and fun to listen to, but it wasn’t until I watched the live theatre of Hamilton play in Vancouver that I was hooked on Lin-Manuel Miranda’s plays and that led to many other plays like Fiddler-on-the-Roof. In School Academics
I have been enrolled in a Mandarin Language Arts Program from K-7. I am proud that I am a top student in my class and am excited about high school next year.
Music & Language & Arts
I enjoy learning languages, playing instruments, and musical theatre. My grandma gave me my chinese name “En-Yi” and it means “proper harmony”. Grandma tells me that my name is supposed to mean that I will contribute harmony to the world.
Sports Leisure
I have explored a lot of different activities including basketball, soccer, swimming, running, biking, hiking, camping and football.
Volunteer Work
I am proud to have been a co-producer of a kids anti-racism campaign. I regularly deliver food for a food bank and I am also a Burnaby North youth leader for a Burnaby MLA.

My favorite things
Since I could remember, I always enjoyed finding a great book and reading in a comfy area (even if its just a box full of blankets). Check out some of my favorite authors. I also like to draw digital art and like to read graphic novels and watch anime. I also enjoy photography and making fun videos. My favorite movies are based on Marvel and DC Comics.
I was proud to be able to perform my first solo recital after one summer learning the violin. I enjoy playing songs and playing on my dad’s music productions.
